Marine Environmental Studies Laboratory

Radioecology Laboratory

Virtual Tours

Welcome to the IAEA Radioecology Laboratory. The work done here applies nuclear and isotopic techniques as tools in research on pressing challenges in coastal and marine ecosystems, resulting from climate change and human pressures. This encompasses studies and capacity building for Member States on ocean acidification, carbon cycling and Blue Carbon, seafood safety including harmful algal blooms and biotoxins, monitoring of marine microplastic pollution and experimental work on biomagnification of contaminants in the marine food chain.
