The December 1997 IAEA Bulletin edition looks into nuclear security and safeguards. The focus is on the physical protection of nuclear material, safeguards’ verification of non-proliferation commitments, strengthened safeguards, and the IAEA’s Symposium on International Safeguards in October 1997. This Bulletin edition also includes an issue of Inside Technical Co-operation that reports on some of the current IAEA’s Technical Cooperation projects, including pest control, agriculture on saline soils, and pain relief for cancer patients.
