Location and How to reach the Vienna International Centre (VIC)

This event will take place at the IAEA’s Headquarters, which is located at the Vienna International Centre (VIC):

Meeting participants are encouraged to use public transportation to get to the VIC.

Issuance of Conference Badges

Access to the VIC is handled by the UN Security and Safety Service (UNSSS) with the issuance of a photo badges. Registered participants will receive an email notification from the United Nations Pass Office in advance of the event for the purpose of uploading a passport-sized coloured photograph (.jpeg format) for the preparation of conference badges. Failure to successfully upload a photograph will result in having to line up at the United Nations Pass Office to be photographed and have the badge issued on site.

Please bring with you an identification document with picture to facilitate your entry to the meeting premises and to facilitate the registration process.

The IAEA Registration Desk at the VIC, Gate 1, will be open during the following times: 

  • Sunday, 24 November 2024                15:00 – 18:00
  • Monday, 25 November 2024               07:30 – 18:00
  • Tuesday, 26 November 2024               07:30 – 16:00
  • Wednesday, 27 November 2024         08:00 – 12:00
  • Thursday, 28 November 2024             08:00 – 12:00

To avoid delays on Tuesday, 26 November 2024, participants are kindly advised to collect their badges in advance from the IAEA Registration Desk at GATE 1 of the Vienna International Centre on Sunday, 24 November or on Monday, 25 November 2024 within the above-stated opening hours. Participants should bring their passports, which are required to issue the conference badges.

Hotel Accommodation

Participants must make their own travel and hotel arrangements. Hotels which are offering a reduced rate for the conference are listed here.

Should participants wish to take advantage of the reduced rates, reservations should be made by e-mailing the hotel directly and not online via the hotel website or booking portals. Please note all rates are subject to availability and may not be available during peak times. The IAEA is not in a position to assist participants with hotel bookings, nor can the IAEA assume responsibility for paying cancellation fees or for re-bookings and no shows.

Visa

Registered participants shall comply with the entry requirements to Austria and shall apply for a visa, if necessary, as soon as possible. For more information, please refer to the Austria visa information
Please note that the IAEA can assist with visa matters as early as 3 months but not later than 4 weeks in before your travel. 

Code of Conduct

To prevent harassment, including sexual harassment, the IAEA adheres to the UN Code of Conduct

The Code of Conduct applies to any UN system event, which shall include meetings, conferences and symposia, assemblies, receptions, scientific and technical events, expert meetings, workshops, exhibits, side events and any other forum organized, hosted or sponsored in whole or part by a UN system entity wherever it takes place, and any event or gathering that takes place on UN system premises whether or not a UN system entity is organizing, hosting or sponsoring.

The Code of Conduct applies to all participants at a UN system event, including all persons attending or involved in any capacity in a UN system event. The UN system or other entity responsible for a UN system event commits to implementing the Code of Conduct. The Code of Conduct is not legal or prescriptive in nature. It supplements, and does not aect, the application of other relevant policies, regulations, rules and laws, including laws regulating the premises in which the UN system event takes place and any applicable host country agreements.

Conference Materials

The preliminary programme will become available on the conference website and a final version will be uploaded prior to the start of the event. Further conference material will be available in the IAEA Conference and Meetings App.

Greening

To demonstrate its commitment to sustainability, the IAEA will organize this conference as a 'green meeting' according to the guidelines of the Austrian Ecolabel.

There will be a focus on the areas of paper smart documentation, waste reduction and recycling, and environmentally friendly catering.

Conference App

The IAEA Conferences and Meetings App provides a one-stop access to information on the Conference, exhibitions and scheduled side events. The app also allows users to put together their own personalized schedule of events. Via the App, users will be able to view the latest programme, the list of participants, message other participants, and view presentations released after the event.
