IAEA SSAC Advisory Service

An ISSAS mission provides a comprehensive review of a State’s System of Accounting for and Control of Nuclear Material (SSAC) by a team of technical and legal experts. The voluntary peer review mission covers all aspects of a SSAC to identify good practices and establish recommendations to further strengthen a State’s implementation of safeguards. Whether developing a new nuclear power programme or operating a fully established nuclear fuel cycle, ISSAS missions assess existing safeguards infrastructure at any stage of development and advise on requirements. All States with an IAEA safeguards agreement can request an ISSAS mission.

Interested States can request an Advisory Service Mission by sending an email to the IAEA. For any other additional or related information on ISSAS missions, please contact ISSAS.
