International Conference on the IAEA Technical Cooperation Programme: Sixty Years and Beyond – Contributing to Development

Marking the 60th anniversary of the IAEA’s Technical Cooperation programme, the International Conference on the IAEA Technical Cooperation Programme: Sixty Years and Beyond will take place in Vienna from 30 May–1 June 2017. It brings together Member States and other partners to further develop partnerships in order to enhance the delivery of the TC programme, the main mechanism through which the IAEA delivers assistance to Member States.

This event will highlight the role of the TC programme in sustainable development, discuss future partnership opportunities and examine the way forward for the TC programme.

Participants are encouraged to use the official hashtag on social media: #Atoms4Dev2017

Greening the conference

The TC Conference is going green. It has been awarded with the official Green Meeting certification issued by the Austrian government, demonstrating the IAEA’s commitment to sustainability.

The certificate can be viewed at the following links:

At the TC conference, the Secretariat will provide paper-smart documentation, waste reduction and recycling, and environmentally friendly catering. Participants are encouraged to use public transport to arrive at the Conference venue and can choose environmentally certified accommodation (list here), as well as use the IAEA Conference and Meetings app rather than paper. These small actions can make a big difference and will all help to reduce the environmental impact of the Technical Cooperation Conference.

The Vienna International Centre is a UNFCCC certified 100% carbon neutral workplace.

Vienna has an efficient network of public transport — buses, trains, trams and underground lines — that covers most of the city. The IAEA encourages participants to make full use of these greener modes of transportation: a 10% discount for a 5-day ticket has been arranged for participants.
