The global outbreak of COVID-19 impacted many industrial activities including the operation of nuclear and radiation facilities and activities. The IAEA in cooperation with its Member States is closely monitoring the situation since early phases of the pandemic and has collected essential operating experience at nuclear and radiation facilities and activities and regulatory bodies in this respect.

The purpose of the webinar is to share experiences and discuss preliminary lessons learned at nuclear and radiation facilities in managing the risks posed by the COVID-19 pandemic. The webinar will also provide an opportunity to discuss considerations for the enhancement of preparation for, response to and recovery from the ongoing and future pandemics. The IAEA has developed a draft technical report summarizing experiences in Member States in ensuring safe, secure and reliable operation of nuclear and radiation facilities and activities during the COVID-19 pandemic - the report will be also presented to participants.
