Fourth Global Survey on the Information System on Occupational Exposure in Medicine, Industry and Research – Industrial Radiography
Date and time

Presenters: Wilbroad Muhogora (IAEA), Eita Maeda (IAEA)
About the webinar
The IAEA Information System on Occupational Exposure in Medicine, Industry and Research - Industrial Radiography (ISEMIR-IR) is a web based tool for the collection and analysis of radiation doses to workers in industrial radiography. Non-destructive testing (NDT) companies can use the system to compare their dose rates with others, to identify ways to enhance radiation protection in the workplace. The IAEA so far has conducted three global surveys on ISEMIR-IR, each time using the results to improve the system for a better user experience.
The aim of the webinar is to provide feedback on the previous ISEMIR-IR global surveys, held in 2010, 2020 and 2022, to explain the methodology of the fourth ISEMIR-IR global survey and to present the recently upgraded features of the ISEMIR-IR system.
"ISEMIR-IR surveys are very useful in understanding radiation protection practices in different parts of the world, and I always encourage participation in the surveys at our non-destructive testing meetings. In this way, we can exchange experiences and improve the radiation protection of workers in the industry," said David Gilbert, Head of Publishing and Media at the British Institute of Non Destructive Testing and Secretary General of the Executive Committee of the International Committee for Non Destructive Testing.
The fourth ISEMIR-IR global survey, which will be available online and offline until 31 December 2024 consists of two questionnaires: one for regulatory bodies and one for NDT service providers. Participant feedback will help to identify further improvements to the ISEMIR-IR system, allowing NDT companies to more easily and accurately analyse dose to workers to strengthen safe working practices.
Webinar goals
- To understand the methodology and be introduced to the questions in the fourth ISEMIR-IR global Survey.
- To understand the results of the previous ISEMIR-IR global surveys.
- To learn how the ISEMIR-IR system works and how to enter information.
