The EESS portal is a platform and working space for registered users that allows them to collaborate on extrabudgetary IAEA projects related to site evaluation and the protection of nuclear installations against external hazards.
External Events Safety Section (EESS) portal
Through the EESS portal, IAEA member states and other stakeholders can work together on different aspects of site selection, site evaluation and the protection of nuclear installations against external hazards.
The safety objective in site evaluation includes the characterization of natural and human induced external hazards that might affect the safety of a nuclear installation, so as to provide adequate input for a demonstration of how people and the environment can be protected from the harmful effects of ionizing radiation. Site specific hazards and design parameters are used in the design and safety assessment to ensure that nuclear installations are adequately protected against external hazards.
