Description

This webinar is the first in Part 1 of the IAEA webinar series on Nuclear Technology Breakthroughs for the 21st Century.

During this webinar, we will hear from international experts on how the combination of nuclear and renewable technologies can leverage the benefits of both technologies to provide reliable and sustainable electric power to the grid as well as low-carbon energy to other sectors. Participants will find out how the use of such systems for the cogeneration of heat and electricity could support several commodities required by society while supporting greater penetration of variable renewable generation.

Participants in this webinar will be introduced to several topics including:

  • the concept of hybridization of clean energy sources towards sustainability
  • how current nuclear power plants can go hand in hand with renewables
  • technology readiness for and challenges facing nuclearrenewable integrated energy systems
  • development of integrated systems from laboratories to commercialization
