The 56th General Conference presents a large exhibition highlighting the IAEA’s development work

GC_joint_exhibition
For the first time, the IAEA Annual General Conference presents a joint exhibition between the Departments of Nuclear Applications, Nuclear Energy and Technical Cooperation. The exhibition consists of six large exhibition walls featuring key areas where the IAEA contributes to sustainable development around the world.

These development fields include human health, agriculture and food security, energy, waste, water and oceans, and the environment and industrial applications.

Much of the IAEA's daily work focuses on supporting the socioeconomic development of its Member States and helping them achieve national development priorities in fields where nuclear techniques offer unique advantages, or where nuclear techniques can usefully supplement conventional means.

Through its technical cooperation programme, which is supported by the technical expertise of the Departments of Nuclear Sciences and Applications, Nuclear Energy and Nuclear Safety and Security, the IAEA assists its Member States to build capacities in nuclear science and technology. The IAEA helps countries develop human resource capacities, technical skills and nuclear policy and regulatory infrastructure for a wide array of activities related to nuclear science, technologies and applications. In addition, the IAEA provides necessary equipment and trains specialists to implement and further disseminate the acquired know-how in their home countries.

Visit the joint IAEA exhibition to learn more about how nuclear techniques contribute to the socioeconomic development of the IAEA Member States, and how IAEA manages the support programme.
