Panama Signs a Country Programme Framework (CPF) for 2020–2025

Federico Alfaro Boyd, Vice-Minister of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Dazhu Yang, IAEA Deputy Director General and Head of the Department of Technical Cooperation, signed Panama’s Country Programme Framework (CPF) for the period of 2020–2025 on 11 February 2020. A CPF is the frame of reference for the medium-term planning of technical cooperation between a Member State and the IAEA and identifies priority areas where the transfer of nuclear technology and technical cooperation resources will be directed to support national development goals.

Panama has been an IAEA Member State since 1966. Its 2020–2025 CPF identifies 7 priority areas:

  1. Legal framework
  2. Nuclear safety and security
  3. Food and agriculture
  4. Human health and nutrition
  5. Water and the environment
  6. Energy and industry
  7. Human resources development
