Lao People's Democratic Republic Signs its Second Country Programme Framework (CPF) for 2020-2025

Sithong Chitnhothinh, Ambassador and Resident Representative at the Permanent Mission of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic to the IAEA, and Dazhu Yang, IAEA Deputy Director General and Head of the Department of Technical Cooperation, signed Lao People's Democratic Republic's Country Programme Framework (CPF) for the period of 2020-2025 on 18 December 2020. A CPF is the frame of reference for the medium-term planning of technical cooperation between a Member State and the IAEA and identifies priority areas where the transfer of nuclear technology and technical cooperation resources will be directed to support national development goals.

Lao People's Democratic Republic has been an IAEA Member State since 2011. Its 2020-2025 CPF identifies six priority areas:

  1. Legal framework
  2. Nuclear and radiation safety and security
  3. Food and agriculture
  4. Human health and nutrition
  5. Water resources and environment
  6. Energy and industry
