Israel signs a Country Programme Framework (CPF) for 2012-2017

Ehud Azoulay, Ambassador and Resident Representative of Israel to the IAEA, and Kwaku Aning, IAEA Deputy Director General and Head of the Department of Technical Cooperation, have signed Israel's Country Programme Framework (CPF) for the period of 2012 - 2017 on 19 September 2012. A Country Programme Framework (CPF) is the frame of reference for the near-term and medium-term planning of technical cooperation between a Member State and the IAEA, and identifies priority areas where the transfer of nuclear technology and technical cooperation resources will be directed to support national development goals.

Israel has been an IAEA Member State since 1957. The programme covered in the CPF Document will focus on areas of particular importance in the fields of:

  1. Health - Quality Assurance in Nuclear Medicine and Radiotherapy as well as Improvement of Methods for Diagnostic Imaging.
  2. Agriculture - Pre-harvest and post-harvest technologies.
  3. Human Resources Development in the Nuclear Domain - Improvement of education in the fields of nuclear science, engineering and safety; strengthening the transfer of experience related to occupational radiation protection in the nuclear industry and other applications involving ionizing radiation; as well as strengthening education and training in the field of radiation and nuclear safety.
