The IAEA and RCA Regional Office have formalized their cooperation to enhance cooperation in the performance of secretariat duties under the 2017 Regional Cooperative Agreement for research, development and training related to nuclear science and technology for Asia and the Pacific (RCA). Practical Arrangements outlining the terms of collaboration were signed by Mr. Dazhu Yang, Deputy Director General of IAEA Technical Programme Department and Mr. Hai Joo Moon, Director of the RCA Regional Office (RCARO) on 14 September 2017 at the IAEA headquarters in Vienna, Austria.
The signing of the Practical Arrangements was decided by the 39th Regional Meeting of the National RCA Representatives held in April 2017 in Bangladesh to facilitate the assistance of the RCARO to the IAEA. Under the Practical Arrangements, the RCARO will provide assistance to the IAEA in preparation for the Regional Meetings (RCA NRMs) and General Conference Meetings of the National RCA Representatives (RCA GCMs), RCA Advisory Committee and established Working Groups under the RCA framework. The IAEA and RCARO also agreed to exchange relevant information in performing such activities.
RCA Regional Office was established in 2002 in Korea to increase the awareness and promote partnerships for the RCA.
