Ethiopia Signs Its Fifth Country Programme Framework (CPF) for 2024–2028

Minister Belete Molla, from the Ethiopian Ministry of Innovation and Technology, and Mr Hua Liu, IAEA Deputy Director General and Head of the Department of Technical Cooperation, signed Ethiopia’s fifth Country Programme Framework (CPF) for the period of 2024–2028 on 27 June 2024. A CPF is the frame of reference for the medium-term planning of technical cooperation between a Member State and the IAEA and identifies priority areas where the transfer of nuclear technology and technical cooperation resources will be directed to support national development goals.

Ethiopia has been an IAEA Member State since 1957. Its 2024–2028 CPF identifies the following priority areas:

  1. Health and nutrition
  2. Food and agriculture
  3. Water resources and environment
  4. Industry and mining
  5. Energy
  6. Human resources capacity building
