Educational Course "Tips, Tricks and Pearls in Paediatric Radiology"

The first Baltic course "Tips, Tricks and Pearls in Paediatric Radiology" was held from 17 to 19 February in Riga, Latvia. The meeting was organized by Riga Children University Hospital, in collaboration with the International Atomic Energy Agency and Societies of Radiologists of Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia. The course aimed to give best tips to answer clinical questions for children who need medical imaging and to ensure their safety by avoiding unnecessary ionizing radiation and performing procedures in an optimized way. The meeting was attended by 190 radiologists, radiographers and medical physicists, as well as radiology residents from Baltic countries. The faculty formed of 24 experienced professionals from Finland, Austria, Slovenia, Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia ensured the high quality of the lectures and discussions during the course. Support was provided by the IAEA, as contribution to knowledge and best practice exchange, and in support to the safety and quality in medical use of ionizing radiation, with a particular focus on protection of children.
