Benin Signs its Second Country Programme Framework (CPF) for 2017-2021

HE Mr Eloi Laourou, Ambassador, Permanent Representative of Benin to the United Nations Organisation in Geneva and Vienna and Mr Dazhu Yang, IAEA Deputy Director General and Head of the Department of Technical Cooperation, have signed Benin’s Country Programme Framework (CPF) for the period of 2017–2021 on 5 September 2017. A CPF is the frame of reference for the medium-term planning of technical cooperation between a Member State and the IAEA and identifies priority areas where the transfer of nuclear technology and technical cooperation resources will be directed to support national development goals.

Benin has been an IAEA Member State since 1999. Its 2017–2021 CPF identifies five main priority areas:

  1. Radiation safety and legal framework
  2. Food and agriculture
  3. Human health
  4. Water and environment
  5. Energy and industry
