The objective of IAEA Safeguards is to deter the spread of nuclear weapons by the early detection of the misuse of nuclear material or technology by States. Entitled “Reflecting on the Past and Anticipating the Future”, the Symposium brought together Member State safeguards regulatory authorities, the research and development (R&D) community, industry and civil society to identify challenges and opportunities, showcase research, share ideas, and build partnerships.
