DDG-TC Official Visit to Qatar and Singapore

Kwaku Aning, Deputy Director General (DDG) and Head of the Department of Technical Cooperation, paid official visits to Qatar and Singapore between 20 and 25 April 2014. While in Qatar, Mr. Aning met authorities from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of the Environment. Mr. Aning also met the Honorable Dr. Ahmed Hassan Al-Hammadi, Head, Legal Affairs Department. <br><br> The meeting was attended by the Head of the International Hazardous Conventions Section, and by authorities from the Department of Wildlife and Natural Resources, and the Department of Radiation Protection and Chemical Management (NLA). In Singapore, Mr. Aning visited the National Environment Agency where he gave a presentation on the TC Programme. He is pictured with authorities from the Environmental Protection Division. The IAEA’s technical cooperation programme is helping Singapore to build capacities in nuclear medicine, and to improve the quality of treatment. <br><br> Mr Aning visited the Department of Nuclear Medicine in Singapore General Hospital. Mr. Aning also toured the Division of Radiation Oncology in Singapore’s National Cancer Centre. Mr. Aning, discussed prospects for strengthening cooperation between the IAEA and Singapore Cooperation at Singapore’s National Research Foundation. DDG Aning also had an opportunity to visit Singapore’s New Water Visitor Centre.
