An UNMOVIC chemical team inspected the Al Basil Centre-Jadriyah and other buildings in the Jadriyah compound. The Al Basil is mainly a chemical and petroleum research center. The team froze all entrances, though vehicles and people were allowed to leave subject to search.
An UNMOVIC team of missile inspectors inspected the Nissan #7 Factory, approximately 30 km east of Baghdad. The factory contributes to some Iraqi missile programmes with the development of fuses. Another missile team returned to the Al Mamoun Plant to finish tagging equipment related to solid propellant production. The team started the tagging on 3 January.
An UNMOVIC biological team inspected the Al Rasheed Central Military Medical Laboratory and the Al Rasheed Military Hospital in Baghdad. These facilities are located in a complex owned by the Ministry of Defence. Another biological team in Basra inspected three educational institutions that belong to Basra Univesity: the Microbiology Department of the College of Medicine, the Marine Science Centre, and the Biology Department of the College of Science.
An UNMOVIC multidisciplinary team inspected the Al Aziziyah Firing Range, located southeast of Baghdad. Certain proscribed munitions were previously stored at the site.
A Mosul-based multidisciplinary team inspected the Ibn Sina Teaching Hospital in Mosul city.
The IAEA inspected the Saddam Graphite Plant, located southwest of Baghdad. The plant has a project to manufacture graphite electrodes for use in induction arc furnaces for the Iron and Steel Industry in Iraq.
