As part of ongoing IAEA efforts to continually strengthen national, regional and international capacities to respond to nuclear and radiological incidents and emergencies, the fourth edition of the School of Radiation Emergency Management (SREM) in the Latin American and the Caribbean region was conducted in Spanish from 31 October - 18 November 2022 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Managing radiation emergencies requires skilled professionals. The IAEA offers a School of Radiation Emergency Management to help Member States develop the needed expertise. The intensive two-to-three-week course strengthens participants’ ability to develop and manage sustainable emergency preparedness and response (EPR) programmes.
