Technical Meeting on Site Repurposing and Stakeholder Involvement

The decommissioning of nuclear facilities has become a commonplace activity in many countries over the past decades. This development reflects the ageing and retirement of fleets of nuclear power reactors and other research and fuel cycle facilities. Such facilities often represent a major economic activity in the local vicinity and, in such cases, stakeholders in local communities have a keen interest in how the decommissioning activity is implemented and what end state and future use of the site is anticipated.

This event will facilitate the sharing of current good practices in Member States on approaches to decision making concerning the repurposing of nuclear facilities and sites, focusing on stakeholder engagement.
