The Conference of Radiation Control Program Directors, in association with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) is organizing the Ninth International Symposium on Naturally Occurring Radioactive Material in Denver, Colorado, the United States.

The Symposium aims to harmonize approaches and methods for NORM management, and through practical case studies, provide guidance for their application. Symposium topics include waste management, remediation and decommissioning, environmental protection, stakeholder processes, and regulations applicable to industries involving NORM.

The Symposium will be devoted to the dissemination of new research, scientific information and knowledge on radiation protection of workers, the public and the environment. It will touch upon a wide range of industrial activities involving NORM, including uranium, thorium and other mining and processing; oil and gas production, and water and wastewater treatment. Participants will share experiences, review progress made since the last Symposium in 2016, identify opportunities and provide an in-depth analysis of current challenges.

Representatives of industries involving NORM, academic and research institutions, and regulatory authorities are invited to participate. The symposium offers a multitude of possibilities and opportunities for networking.
