Safety Assessment Section: Capacity Building Activities

The Safety Assessment Section provides support to Member States in building and sustaining capacity in nuclear safety.

Building and sustaining capacity

• The Technical Safety Review (TSR) service offers an independent peer review and supports building and sustaining capacity in nuclear safety at the regulatory body or at the national level of Member States.
• Upon request by Member States, specialized Workshops can be arranged for building and sustaining capacity in the areas of safety assessment and design safety. (link points to SAS email address).

Education and training

• The safety assessment education and training (SAET) programme provides training to address the education and training needs of those with limited experience in safety assessment and of those seeking to gain specialized expertise in specific areas of safety assessment or design safety.

Knowledge networks

• The Global Nuclear Safety Assessment Network (GSAN) enables capacity building in nuclear safety and design safety in support of global nuclear safety harmonization, especially in the expanding and developing nuclear programmes worldwide.
