Empowering Youth: Attracting the Next Generation of Nuclear Professionals
Webinar series on IAEA and the Runup to COP26: IAEA in All4Climate Events
Description
This event is aimed at inspiring young people to pursue careers in nuclear science and technology. In the form of intergenerational dialogue, this event will promote the exchange of views, experience, and achievements in the field of nuclear science and technology.
In light of the ‘Youth4Climate: Driving Ambition’ initiative that will be carried at the Pre-COP, the IAEA will host this dialogue to highlight the importance of youth engagement in nuclear science and technology. This event will emphasize that with sustained introduction of nuclear science and nuclear policy into education and professional practices and training, young students and professionals can clearly understand the unique role that nuclear energy has in fighting Climate Change and achieving Global Goals. The event will talk about career opportunities and benefits in the nuclear field, societal impact of nuclear science and technology, and their role in mitigating climate change and contributing to sustainable development.
This event will start with opening remarks and will continue with a dialogue between IAEA representatives, a young alumnus from the IAEA- ICTP (International Centre for Theoretical Physics) STEP (Sandwich Training Educational Programme), a student within the IAEA Marie Sklodowska-Curie Fellowship Programme and the representatives of an international nuclear sector association and a nuclear institute. The dialogue format will promote interaction between the speakers and with the attendees of the event in a Q&A session. This event will ensure the participation of young representatives as well as high-level experts on the matter, promoting an intergenerational dialogue.
