Workshop on Arrangements for the Termination of a Nuclear or Radiological Emergency

This training course helps Member States to develop and implement arrangements for the termination of a nuclear or radiological emergency, as required by the IAEA Safety Standard Preparedness and Response for a Nuclear or Radiological Emergency (GSR Part 7) and the Safety Guide on Arrangements for the Termination of a Nuclear or Radiological Emergency (GSG-11).

The course targets professionals working in preparedness for and response to nuclear or radiological emergencies at the national, regional, local or facility levels.

The four-day programme focuses on the necessary steps to declare the formal end to a nuclear or radiological emergency. It also highlights the procedures for adapting and lifting protective actions; medical follow-up and provision of mental health and psychosocial support; infrastructural elements necessary to support adequate capability for response during the transition phase, and the facilitation of smooth and prompt resumption of social and economic activity.

Member States desiring training in this area should send an official request to the IAEA Incident and Emergency Centre.
