IAEA.org has Gone Multilingual

,

To make its content accessible to a wider range of readers, the IAEA this week launched versions of its web site in  Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian and Spanish. The introduction of the multilingual sites follows the launch of pages in these languages last year, with significantly enhanced content of over a thousand pages in each language now available.

The new language sites present the IAEA and its various work areas and provide historical information on its role in promoting the peaceful uses of nuclear technology. Over 400 topic pages and hundreds of publications, news articles, videos, photo essays and press releases are now available – with each site focusing on the regions where the language is spoken. Links to more technical material available in English are also included.

“Our goal has been to serve the readers of the other languages, to reach out to the wider global community,” said Serge Gas, Director of the IAEA’s Office of Public Information and Communication.

The launch of the sites is part of the IAEA’s efforts to increase outreach in these languages. The Agency already has Facebook accounts in Arabic, French, Russian and Spanish, as well as English, and its flagship publication, the IAEA Bulletin, is also available in Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian and Spanish.
