General Conference: Day 5 Highlights

The 64th IAEA General Conference concluded today, with resolutions adopted on strengthening the Agency’s work in the areas of nuclear science, technology and applications, safety and security, and safeguards.

The following activities took place on Friday:

The Plenary of the Regulatory Cooperation Forum (RCF) served as a platform to facilitate communication and the exchange of information between countries with advanced nuclear power programmes and countries embarking on or considering a nuclear power programme, such as Belarus, Bangladesh, Ghana, Jordan, Morocco, Nigeria, Poland, Sudan and Viet Nam. The event also introduced RCF activities to non-RCF members.

The IAEA signed a collaborating centre agreement with the Institute for Nuclear Sciences Applied to Health, Research Unit of the University of Coimbra (ICNAS), Portugal, designating ICNAS as an IAEA Collaborating Centre in the area of the production and R&D of radioisotopes and radiopharmaceuticals.
