Since 2008, the IAEA in collaboration with the European Society for Radiotherapy and Oncology (ESTRO), has been involved in the training of radiation therapy technologists. Radiation therapy technologists are responsible for the delivery of radiation to cancer patients. Mary Coffey, a Professor at Trinity College in Dublin, Ireland, helped conceptualize the IAEA's training initiatives. She discusses the present status of training for radiation therapy technologists in Europe.
