Press Arrangements for IAEA Board of Governors Meeting, 14 September 2020

The IAEA Board of Governors will convene a meeting at the Agency's headquarters starting at 10:00 CEST on Monday, 14 September, in the Plenary Hall of the M-building in the Vienna International Centre (VIC).

Board discussions are expected to include: the Zoonotic Disease Integrated Action (ZODIAC) Project; nuclear and radiation safety; nuclear security; strengthening the Agency’s activities related to nuclear science, technology and applications; verification and monitoring in the Islamic Republic of Iran in light of United Nations Security Council resolution 2231 (2015); application of safeguards in the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea; implementation of the NPT Safeguards Agreement in the Syrian Arab Republic; NPT Safeguards Agreement with the Islamic Republic of Iran; and application of IAEA safeguards in the Middle East.

The Board of Governors meeting is closed to the press.

Director General Rafael Mariano Grossi will open the meeting with an introductory statement, which will be released to journalists after delivery and posted on the IAEA website. The IAEA will also provide video footage and make photos available on Flickr.

Press Conference:

Director General Grossi is expected to hold a press conference at 14:30 CEST on Monday, 14 September, in the Press Room of the M-building.

Journalists are invited to attend the press conference in person. All participants must strictly follow Austrian health guidelines.

Due to restrictions related to COVID-19, annual VIC accreditations are currently not valid. All journalists who plan to attend the press conference need to request accreditation by 12:00 CEST on Friday, 11 September.

Live video stream of the press conference will be available from 14:30 CEST.

Photo Op:

There will be a photo opportunity before the start of the Board meeting in the Plenary Hall on the first floor of the M-building in the VIC.

Social distancing rules apply, and the use of face mask is obligatory. Media interested in attending the photo opportunity will also need to register by 12:00 CEST on Friday, 11 September.

Press Working Area:

The Press Room on the M-building's ground floor will be available as a press working area from 08:30 CEST on 14 September.

Accreditation:

All journalists interested in participating in the press conference or photo-op – including those holding permanent accreditations – must register with the Press Office by 12:00 CEST on Friday, 11 September. Accreditation will be valid for 14 September only and needs to be requested for additional days.

Access to the VIC for journalists is currently only possible through Gate 1. One-day badges will be provided at the reception desk upon presentation of a photo-ID. Please plan accordingly.
