1 December 2023

Time: 10:00-11:00 (GMT +4) | Location: FAO Pavilion

Between 691 and 783 million people faced hunger in 2022. As climate change causes widespread adverse impacts and related losses and damages to our agrifood systems, more than 670 million people may still be hungry in 2030 – far from the Zero Hunger target. In the Ministerial Roundtable, DG FAO, DG IAEA, and agricultural ministers from different regions will discuss the critical role that nuclear techniques play in agrifood systems transformation. In addition, the event will showcase how the FAO-IAEA strategic partnership, through the Joint FAO/IAEA Centre of Nuclear Techniques in Food and Agriculture, has supported Member States with research and development, capacity building and technology transfer to increase the resilience of global agrifood systems against the ravages of climate change.
