Huete, Alvaro

Dr. Alvaro Huete is Associate Professor and Chairman of the Department of Radiology at the Catholic University in Santiago, Chile.

He graduated in Medicine at the University of Chile and completed his residency training in Diagnostic Radiology at the Catholic University in 1999. Between 1999 and 2001 he underwent fellowship training in Abdominal Imaging and Cardio-Thoracic Radiology at the Mallinckrodt Institute of Radiology, Washington University in St. Louis. After returning to the Catholic University in Santiago, he was the Director of Body Imaging as well as Program Director for the Residency Program until 2019 when he became Department Chair.

Dr. Huete has been an active contributor to radiological education throughout Latin America, and is currently the Academic Director for the Interamerican College of Radiology (CIR). He is also an active member of the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA), serving on several educational committees and being appointed this year to the Educational Council of the Society. Currently, he is Vice-President of the Chilean Society of Radiology, SOCHRADI.

Dr. Huete has published over 50 book chapters and articles in peer reviewed scientific journals. His main interests in the field of imaging are radiology education, oncology-related imaging, vascular imaging and imaging of thoracic and abdominal emergencies.
