IAEA Safety Standards Series Nos. GSR Part 7, “Preparedness and Response for a Nuclear or Radiological Emergency” and GS-G-2.1, “Arrangements for Preparedness for a Nuclear or Radiological Emergency” as well as the EPR Series publication “Actions to Protect the Public in an Emergency due to Severe Conditions at a Light Water Reactor” (EPR-NPP Public Protective Actions) all provide guidance on public protective actions in a nuclear emergency at a nuclear power plant. EPR-NPP Public Protective Actions provides guidance specific to light water reactor emergencies based upon the Safety Standards Series. The aim of the EPR-NPP Public Protective Actions publication is to provide guidance and generate a wider understanding among relevant stakeholders and NPP staff on the actions that are necessary to protect the public in the event of an emergency at a light water reactor. The publication provides a basis for developing the tools and criteria at the preparedness stage that would be needed in taking protective actions and additional concrete arrangements in response to such an emergency.
The webinar is open to all interested stakeholders, staff and specialists in international organisations and research organisations as well as those who are keen to have a better understanding on this specific topic.
