Vinjamuri, Sobhan

Pro. Dr. Sobhan Vinjamuri graduated in India and obtained nuclear medicine training in India at Radiation Medicine Centre, Mumbai and in UK at St Bartholomews’ Hospital, as well as at Royal Liverpool University Hospital. He has been Consultant in Nuclear Medicine at Royal Liverpool University Hospital since 1998 (Lead Consultant since 2005), which is now one of the larger nuclear medicine departments in the UK providing a range of diagnostic and therapeutic NM procedures under one roof.

He has been an active teacher and researcher in Nuclear Medicine and has co-authored more than 100 peer reviewed papers. He has been Chairman of Mersey Neuroendocrine Tumour service (2009-2015); Member of Fitness to Practice Panels of General Medical Council (2004-2014); Editor in Chief of Nuclear Medicine Communications ( 2012-2017; rotating post since then); Hospital Lead for Clinical Audit (2009 onwards) and President of British Nuclear Medicine Society (2016-18).

He is currently Chairman of Joint Specialty Committee on Nuclear Medicine of the Royal College of Physicians (April 20 onwards); and an appointed member of Administration of Radioactive Substances Advisory Committee (ARSAC, 2015 onwards). He has developed academic collaborations in teaching with Christie PET-CT Academy (2017 onwards; 4 electronic modules). He has been active in the field of ethics and has chaired Research Ethics Committees since 2004, and is also a member of the Ethics Committee of the European Association of Nuclear Medicine.
