The IAEA Training Course on Radiation Protection and Safety of Patients in Nuclear Medicine, under the TC project for Africa RAF9059, will take place on 10-14 July 2017 in Lusaka, Zambia.
What is the objective?
The objective of the workshop is to provide training to medical workers and the regulatory authority on the activities that need to be considered and performed in the area of radiation protection to patients, workers and the public in nuclear medicine to be compliant with the International Basic Safety Standards.
The training will include topics such as overview of radiation protection concerns in nuclear medicine, expectations in use of radiation in nuclear medicine as described in the BSS and corresponding medical safety guide, the principles of justification and optimization, safety systems in nuclear medicine, considerations for the paediatric patient, and radiopharmaceutical therapy.
Who can participate?
Nuclear medicine professionals and established regulatory authorities in Member states where nuclear medicine is being performed.
