2017/5

The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) will host, for the first time, an International Conference on Applications of Radiation Science and Technology, known as ICARST 2017, from 24 to 28 April at its headquarters in Vienna.

The event is bringing together over 400 international experts from the private and public sectors to discuss the latest developments in the commercial use of this technology in areas related to material processing, health care, the preservation of cultural heritage, and environment.

Topics to be addressed include applications in the sterilization of medical equipment; the modification of materials for the production of high quality cables, wires and biodegradable food packaging; the use of electronic-beam accelerators to tackle industrial pollutants; and the use of radiotracers to ensure safety and improve efficiency in industries.

Fifty exhibitors from around the world will also be showcasing the latest equipment and services related to radiation science and technology. A detailed programme and abstract of presentations can be found on the conference website.

The event will take place in Board Room B, M1 and M2 of the M Building, at the Vienna International Centre.

The event is open to media.

Live video streaming will be available online from 10:00. Please note that the video stream will be broadcast on a view-only channel.
