IAEA Director General Yukiya Amano delivered a statement to the Agency's Board of Governors on 6 June 2016.
He welcomed the recent entry into force of the Amendment to the Convention on the Physical Protection of Nuclear Material, calling it "a significant step which will make the world more secure" from the threat of nuclear terrorism.
The Board, which meets five times a year at the IAEA headquarters in Vienna, Austria, is one of the IAEA's main policymaking bodies.
