Algeria Signs Third Country Programme Framework (CPF) for 2024-2029

H.E. Larbi Latroch Resident Representative of the Permanent Mission of the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria, and Mr Hua Liu, IAEA Deputy Director General and Head of the Department of Technical Cooperation, signed Algeria's Country Programme Framework (CPF) for the period of 2024–2029 on Wednesday 22 November 2023. A CPF is the frame of reference for the medium-term planning of technical cooperation between a Member State and the IAEA and identifies priority areas where the transfer of nuclear technology and technical cooperation resources will be directed to support national development goals.

Algeria has been an IAEA Member State since 1963. Its 2024–2029 CPF identifies five priority areas:

  1. Nuclear and radiation safety and security
  2. Energy
  3. Production of medical radioisotopes
  4. Monitoring and detection of animal and zoonotic diseases
  5. Water resource mapping and management
