Burkina Faso Signs its Fourth Country Programme Framework (CPF) for 2023 – 2028

HE Mr Karamoko Jean Marie Traore, Burkina Faso's Minister Delegate in charge of Regional Cooperation, and Mr Hua Liu, IAEA Deputy Director General and Head of the Department of Technical Cooperation, signed Burkina Faso's Country Programme Framework (CPF) for the period of 2023–2028 on 27 September 2023. A CPF is the frame of reference for the medium-term planning of technical cooperation between a Member State and the IAEA and identifies priority areas where the transfer of nuclear technology and technical cooperation resources will be directed to support national development goals.

Burkina Faso has been an IAEA Member State since 1998. Its 2023-2028 CPF identifies 5 priority areas:

  1. Nuclear and radiation safety and security
  2. Rice productivity
  3. Livestock productivity and animal health
  4. Integrated pest management
  5. Cancer control, diagnosis and treatment
