Kingdom of Bahrain Signs its Country Programme Framework (CPF) for 2024-2029

HE Ambassador Yusuf Abdulkarim Bucheeri, the Director-General of Legal Affairs and Human Rights at Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Mr Hua Liu, IAEA Deputy Director General and Head of the Department of Technical Cooperation, signed the Kingdom of Bahrain’s Country Programme Framework (CPF) for the period of 2024-2029 on 27 September 2023. A CPF is the frame of reference for the medium-term planning of technical cooperation between a Member State and the IAEA and identifies priority areas where the transfer of nuclear technology and technical cooperation resources will be directed to support national development goals.

Kingdom of Bahrain has been an IAEA Member State since 2009. Its 2024-2029 CPF identifies seven priority areas:

  1.   Legal framework
  2.   Nuclear and radiation safety and nuclear security
  3.   Food and agriculture      
  4.   Human health and nutrition
  5.   Water resources and environment
  6.   Energy and industry
  7.   Strengthening the national capacity in nuclear science and technology
