The ARASIA members not only share comparable developmental challenges, but share a common vision of the future. In this regard, from 8-11 June, the IAEA's Vienna headquarters provided the venue for an expert meeting of the working group to discuss and draft a Medium-Term Strategy (MTS) for the ARASIA States-Parties.
This week's meeting, with the participation of some ARASIA National Representatives and experts, began with a roundtable discussion outlining the scope of the new Medium-Term Strategy, from the strategy's vision and mandate to its management principles. With the aim of facilitating cooperation, and in order to attain their collective goals, the meeting's participants devoted themselves to drafting a new MTS document, making sure to consider existing forthcoming regional needs in their deliberations.
The four-day meeting concluded with the draft strategy, and with discussions on the next steps. By leveraging the existing regional collaboration, the ARASIA agreement can further accelerate the process of development, and enable a process of knowledge transfer and sharing of capabilities.
