The International Atomic Energy Agency is organizing an international conference on the safety of radioactive waste management, decommissioning, environmental protection, and remediation, scheduled for November 6–10, 2023: Ensuring safety and enabling sustainability. The conference will focus on the interrelationships between safety and sustainability and identify practical approaches for managing them in decision-making, from policy formulation to implementation.

This second webinar is intended for authors of papers and posters selected for the conference, to enhance studies of the interrelationship between safety and sustainability.

Objectives of the webinar

  • Outline why this conference is important and what might be interesting for the conference to explore
  • Provide a closer look into sustainability and the practical application of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals in the safe management of radioactive waste, decommissioning, environmental protection, and remediation.
  • Further emphasize the relevance and foster the understanding of the importance of addressing sustainability in the safe management of radioactive waste, decommissioning, environmental protection, and remediation.
