Guatemala Signs its Second Country Programme Framework (CPF) for 2022–2027

Manuel Estuardo Roldan Barillas, Resident Representative of the Permanent Mission of Guatemala in Vienna, and Hua Liu, IAEA Deputy Director General and Head of the Department of Technical Cooperation, signed Guatemala's Country Programme Framework (CPF) for the period of 2022–2027 on June 15, 2022. A CPF is the frame of reference for the medium-term planning of technical cooperation between a Member State and the IAEA and identifies priority areas where the transfer of nuclear technology and technical cooperation resources will be directed to support national development goals.

Guatemala has been an IAEA Member State since 1957. Its 2022–2027 CPF identifies 6 priority areas:

  1. Human health and nutrition
  2. Food security and agriculture
  3. Radiation safety
  4. Water and environment
  5. Energy
  6. Mining and industry
