The IAEA Board of Governors will hold a meeting starting at 10:00 CEST on Monday, 15 June 2020.
Board discussions are expected to include: the Annual Report for 2019; the Technical Cooperation Report for 2019; Verification and monitoring in the Islamic Republic of Iran in light of United Nations Security Council resolution 2231 (2015); the Safeguards Implementation Report for 2019; Application of safeguards in the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea; NPT Safeguards Agreement with the Islamic Republic of Iran; and the IAEA and the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Board of Governors meeting is closed to the press. Due to restrictions related to COVID-19, it will be organised as a virtual meeting hosted from the Agency's headquarters at the Vienna International Centre (VIC).
Director General Rafael Mariano Grossi will open the meeting with an introductory statement. It will be released to journalists and posted on the IAEA website after delivery. The IAEA will also provide video footage of the Director General’s statement, and photos will be available on Flickr.
Director General Grossi is expected to hold a press conference at 12:15 CEST on Monday, 15 June, in the Press Room of the M-building in the VIC.
Journalists are invited to attend the press conference in person. All participants must strictly follow Austrian health guidelines. Due to restrictions related to COVID-19, all journalists who plan to attend – including those holding an annual VIC accreditation – need to register for the press conference by 12:00 CEST on Friday, 12 June (see ‘Accreditation’ below).
A live video stream of the press conference will be available online (no login required). Please note that this is a view-only video stream without the possibility to ask questions.
Photo Op
The Director General and the Chairperson of the IAEA's Board of Governors, Swedish Ambassador Mikaela Kumlin Granit, will host the meeting from the podium in Boardroom C on the fourth floor of the C-Building in the VIC. There will be a photo opportunity before the start of the event at 10:00 CEST in this room. Social distancing rules will apply. Media interested in attending the photo opportunity need to register by 12:00 CEST on Friday, 12 June (see ‘Accreditation’ below). IAEA photos will be available on Flickr.
Press Working Area
Due to current restrictions, we are not able to provide a press working area during this Board of Governors session. The Press Room of the M-building will be available for journalists on Monday, 15 June only.
Accreditation

Access to the VIC for journalists is currently only possible through the visitor entrance at Gate 1. Visitor badges will be provided at the reception desk where you need to present an official photo-ID. Please plan accordingly.
