Interested contributors have until 15 December 2019 to submit abstracts for the IAEA International Conference on Nuclear Knowledge Management and Human Resources Development: Challenges and Opportunities, to be held in Moscow from 15 to 19 June 2020.
Development and management of human resources in the nuclear field are crucial factors for its safety and sustainability. The IAEA supports Member States in improving their capabilities to develop and maintain a competent workforce and in ensuring that critical knowledge and skills are transferred in all phases of the life cycle of nuclear facilities.
The programme of this conference has been developed using an integrated approach to human resources development and nuclear knowledge management to better serve the needs of Member States. It will be the first IAEA conference which addresses jointly topics on both nuclear knowledge management and human resources development.
Topics covered will include:
- nuclear knowledge management (NKM), across the nuclear facility life cycle and within nuclear regulatory organizations, including strategies and policies to support NKM methodologies and implementation approaches
- learning and development for human resources, including nuclear education and outreach, human resources planning, competency mapping and management as well as building a learning culture in nuclear organizations;
- digital transformation to support human resources development and nuclear knowledge management, including simulators for the education and training of a nuclear workforce and plant information models;
- nuclear information management, including technology to support new trends in information, records and data management, and knowledge organization systems.
Anyone wishing to present a paper at the conference — either orally or in the form of a poster — must submit an abstract in electronic format through the conference’s web-based file submission system (IAEA-INDICO) by 15 December 2019. Paper copies cannot be accepted and the instructions on the format of the submissions must be closely followed in order for the abstract to be considered by the Programme Committee.
