Operational Safety Section: Capacity Building Activities
The Operational Safety Section provides support to Member States in building and sustaining capacity in nuclear safety.
Education and training
- The IAEA Safety Culture Perception Questionnaire for License Holders help Member States to evaluate an organisations’ Safety Culture perception, in accordance with the IAEA methodology of assessing safety culture.
- The OSART Independent Safety Culture Assessment (ISCA) Guidelines help Member States to perform their own assessments, as add-on module to the IAEA Operational Safety Review Team (OSART) Guidelines and Working Note Outlines, and can be used as training material.
- As part of the Safety Aspects of Long Term Operation (SALTO) peer review, the SALTO peer review guidelines and SALTO Working Note Outlines can be used as training materials.
- As part of the Peer Review of Operational Safety Performance Experience (PROSPER) peer review, the PROSPER guidelines can be used as training material.
Knowledge management
- The International Generic Ageing Lessons Learned (IGALL) database contains experience gained in ageing management for nuclear power plants, in support of IAEA Safety Reports Series No. 82, Ageing Management for Nuclear Power Plants: International Generic Ageing Lessons Learned (IGALL).
- The Safety Aspects of Long Term Operations (SALTO) Mission Results Database (SALMIR) database (login required) contains the results of past SALTO missions.
- The International Reporting System for Operating Experience (IRS) system supports sharing of lessons learned resulting from incidents occurring at nuclear power plants among Member States.
- As part of the IAEA Operational Safety Review Team (OSART) programme, Member States can share operational safety experience through the OSART good practices database and the OSART Mission Results Database (OSMIR) database (login required).
