This support is provided through national, regional and interregional regional projects that address such thematic priorities as human health; waste and environment; nuclear safety and power; radiation safety; and industrial applications.

The Agency’s regional technical cooperation programme in Europe is designed in close consultation with Member States and aims to provide an effective and efficient mechanism that supports the safe and peaceful use of nuclear technologies. It also addresses specific socioeconomic needs and contributes to sustainable development in the context of the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals. The regional projects implemented under the programme foster the knowledge exchange between countries and further regional cooperation on nuclear and radiation safety, nuclear medicine and isotope technology.
