The IAEA Board of Governors concluded its third meeting of the year on 14 September 2012 after discussing several key issues and adopting a resolution urging Iran to cooperate with the Agency.
The Board also discussed the implementation of safeguards in Syria and the Democratic People's Republic of Korea.
In addition, the Board approved a revised version of the Nuclear Security Fundamentals, the foundation document of the Nuclear Security Series. The Nuclear Security Fundamentals contain objectives, concepts and principles of nuclear security and provide the basis for security recommendations.
Other topics discussed included the Director General's report on Implementation of the IAEA Action Plan on Nuclear Safety and the application of IAEA safeguards in the Middle East.
