The Tenth International Conference on Technology, Knowledge and Society

14 February 2014 - The Tenth International Conference on Technology, Knowledge and Society was held from 6 to 7 February at the prestigious Universidad Complutense de Madrid, in Spain. The participants came from various countries around the world. The Conference represents a unique opportunity to engage with scholars and practitioners from diverse backgrounds and with different perspectives. Sessions involved delegates and focused discussions on projects and IT perspectives.

A representative from the Nuclear Information Section attended this year’s event and participated in a special poster session dedicated to the INIS Collection Search (ICS). This application was developed by NIS to provide a free and open web access to about 3.6 million INIS bibliographic records and full-text documents, the IAEA Library Catalogue, the IAEA meetings database, and NUCLEUS.

The Conference provided an opportunity to engage delegates in informal discussions vis-à-vis the ISC, its achievements and further development possibilities.

Other enhancements further increase the usefulness of the ICS. A list of exported records to PDF, HTML, Excel, or Print, includes a hyperlink to each record. This gives users an easy way to return to each referenced record. Further changes were made to lead and analytic records by displaying all analytical records once the search matches a lead record’s title.
