New Member: ABACC Joins INIS
6 December 2006 - The Brazilian-Argentine Agency for Accounting and Control of Nuclear Materials (ABACC) has joined INIS as the 23rd international organisation participating in the system, increasing the total number of INIS Members to 139.
Ms. Ioná Ponce Pereira is the appointed INIS Liaison Officer for ABACC, and Mr. José Orpet Marques Peixoto is the Alternate INIS Liaison Officer.
Created by the governments of Brazil and Argentina in 1991, the Brazilian-Argentine Agency for Accounting and Control of Nuclear Materials is responsible for verifying that the nuclear materials existing in both countries are being used for exclusively peaceful purposes.
